VC Secondaries Funds & Battery Storage: Daniel Wild, Founder and Supervisory Board at Mountain Alliance and Hendrik Brandis, Partner & Co-Founder of Earlybird Venture Capital are discussing two exciting developments today.

Isomer Capital has announced the first closing of its new VC Secondaries Fund in response to high demand and limited liquidity solutions in the European venture capital market. The fund, which has so far raised over 20 million euros from a 100 million target, is focused on acquiring shares from venture capitalists, particularly in a weak exit environment that experienced the lowest exit activity in over a decade in the last quarter of 2023.

Similarly, the Berlin-based startup Terra One, which specializes in large battery storage systems in Germany, has received seed financing of 7 million euros. The round was led by PT1, an early-stage VC for real asset technologies, and included investments from Neosfer, 468 Capital and the Scout Funds from Andreessen Horowitz. Terra One uses AI-based software to optimize its battery storage systems, which allows batteries to be charged during periods of high availability of renewable energy and discharged at peak times, which increases grid stability and supports the transition to 100% renewable energy.
